JSV Book Club Selects “Containing Big Tech” as its Fall ‘23 Book

Jackson Square Ventures (JSV), a San Francisco-based Venture Capital (VC) firm, has this great book club with over 250+ participants (founders, CEOs, Limited Partners, and beyond) and it was an honor they selected my book Containing Big Tech for the fall 2023 season. On November 7, 2023, JSV hosted an event for my book, and it was a lot of fun to be part of a panel discussing my book and related topics including what policymakers have done and are considering with respect to tech policy in the areas of privacy, AI, and competition in key digital markets, and how the “California Effect” is setting the standard for the rest of the US. 

Joining me on the panel was Roger McNamee (author of Zucked! and founder of Elevation Partners) and Alastair Mactaggart (co-author of the California Privacy Rights Act and chairman of Californians for Consumer Privacy). The conversation was moderated by Lydia F. de la Torre, professor of law at UC Davis. 

We had an amazing turnout of over 100 people in the room. Thank you to JSV for hosting the event and selecting my book, thanks to my fellow panelists and our moderator for a great discussion of the issues, and thanks to the audience for a lively set of questions.
